Split-level Studio Apartment

The layout of this flat is kinda fun – the bedroom sits on a small platform above the living room, which is accessible by a little staircase and also houses a hidden closet. I’m not totally sure I could live with a black kitchen, but the living room I could quite happily transplant into my flat tomorrow.

Sourcebook: the shelves above the sofa are from string and the gold pendant in the dining room is by Atelje Lyktan Bumling. The New York poster is part of a series by David Ehrenstråhle. At present it is discontinued, but rumour has it there’s a reprint in the offing before the end of 2015! Similar maps of London, San Fran, Paris and Bombay can be found on his website My Guide To.

Lucy started writing Decorenvy as a scrapbook to record ideas when she began decorating her own place in 2013. Her frustration at the lack of alternatives to high street brands and catalogue decorating has since seen it evolve into a sourcebook for unusual and interesting design, complete with tours of beautiful homes and the occasional ill-advised DIY project.

  1. Dear Lucy, thank you for sharing the studio design, it’s an inspiration! I could easily live with this! Luv it.

    1. Hi Jocelyn, I’ve done a bit of research but can’t find a source for the globe lamp! The best I can do is this tutorial which shows how to make your own at home (you’ll need to turn on Google translate). So frustrating, I want one too!

      1. I saw one recently on pintrest for sale at etsy U.K. But it may have been from the US as we can order things over and pay the postage. Hope that helps!

    1. Hi Ross, I’m afraid I don’t! I looked for it when writing the sourcebook but couldn’t find it anywhere. There are loads of similar ones if you search for “black cat print” on Etsy and NOTHS (or even Google) but nothing exactly the same 🙁 sorry!

    2. I had to use my detective skills but I found it! 🙂 http://shop.aprillaprill.se/product/poster-katt This is a Swedish web store and they don’t ship to the US so I have to order it to my mom’s house in Sweden. She will ship it to me and then I have to get it framed (frame not included). It will be worth it though because I love this print. They ship to a few countries so try your country.

Thanks for posting that it’s a Swedish home so I would think to google it in Swedish.
