The Portland Home of Emily Katz

Emily Katz Home Tour | Photos by Michael Spear for Urban Outfitters

Another day, another cool, bohemian home from Portland (see a similar tour I posted recently here). These photos are from an interview and home tour published by Urban Outfitters on one of their stocked designers, Emily Katz. She lives with her partner, Adam, and their combined army of over 100 house plants.

Redecorating has been a joint effort: Adam handled the manual jobs of removing walls and redesigning the layout, giving Emily a blank canvas to creatively decorate their new home. It gives the entire place a comfortingly haphazard appearance, featuring scattered plants in mismatched pots, piles of books lining the walls and even branches hung precariously from the ceiling. It’s mad, but I love it.

You can check out the rest of Emily’s interview here.

Lucy started writing Decorenvy as a scrapbook to record ideas when she began decorating her own place in 2013. Her frustration at the lack of alternatives to high street brands and catalogue decorating has since seen it evolve into a sourcebook for unusual and interesting design, complete with tours of beautiful homes and the occasional ill-advised DIY project.

An interiors blog for those who are
bored of the high street.
